Building Draft (AI job application system) + recruiter product coming soon

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on something called Draft over the past few months, and wanted to share what we’ve built, what’s working, and what’s coming next.

What Draft is

Draft is an AI-powered system designed to make job applications less manual and more structured.

There are already a lot of tools in this space, resume builders, ATS checkers, and AI generators.

The problem is they’re still fragmented.

You generate in one place, check alignment somewhere else, and manage applications separately. Even when using AI, the workflow is still split across tools and requires a lot of manual iteration.

Draft is trying to bring that into a single system:

  • Generate tailored resumes and cover letters from job descriptions
  • Score how well they match using ATS-style feedback
  • Edit in real time via a chat interface
  • Track applications in a centralized dashboard
  • Save jobs directly from listings using a browser extension

Instead of “generate → done”, it becomes:
generate → evaluate → iterate → track

What’s been interesting so far

The biggest insight has been around feedback loops.

People don’t come back just to generate again.
They come back to improve.

Once users see a score tied to a specific job, they start iterating:

  • tweak resume
  • re-run
  • improve match

That loop is what drives retention.

What we’re building next

  1. Recruiter product (coming in ~2 months)

We’re currently building a recruiter-side system.

Instead of only helping candidates, the goal is to:

  • evaluate incoming resumes against job requirements
  • standardize candidate comparison
  • reduce manual screening effort

The idea is to connect both sides of the workflow:
candidate applications ↔ recruiter evaluation

2. Mobile experience (launching this week)

We’re rolling out a mobile-friendly version of Draft this week for saving jobs, quick edits, and tracking.

What I’m trying to figure out

A few open questions:

  • Does this feel like a real “system” or still like a tool?
  • What would make this indispensable for job seekers?
  • For the recruiter side, what would actually replace current workflows instead of sitting on top?

Happy to share more details if useful, especially on:

  • architecture (LangGraph pipelines, state, etc.)
  • early user behavior
  • distribution attempts (Reddit has been… mixed)

Would love feedback from people building similar things.
