Officially, HELLO Hoboken from Bricks & Minifigs! Opening late spring/Early summer at 900 Monroe St (we're also hiring...see inside for more details!)

Shops/Restaurants 🛒 🍽️

Hey everyone! My name is Matt and I'm posting from my regular reddit account that I've had since 2007, just as an exercise in transparency, truth, and anti-bot/AI straightforwardness. Please do feel free to comb and parse my entire comment history, there's lots of exciting opinions in there on Jeep Wranglers, Star Blazers, Kurt Vonnegut, LOTR, Star Wars, Cobra Kai, the Patriots, and a slew of other stuff. Bottom line is I want y'all to see the Realness of this.

Anyway, I've lived in town since 2000, and I spent my single 20s downtown at all the bars, my married 30s in midtown settling down, and now my stable family 40s & 50s uptown. As a family, we love Hoboken Public Schools and everything awesome that comes with it, and I love this town as my adopted home, and I love that my son will one day proudly say to others as an adult, "I'm From Hoboken."

I worked for 25 years as an Assistant Director/Producer in the movie and TV industry, and have managed to extract myself into a retirement career more aligned with my passions, my creativity, and my desire to bring something good to my community that will last well into and beyond retirement age. (The loss of Arthur's Steaks pains me deeply for all the obvious reasons, and I strive for nothing less than THAT level of historical synonymousness and longevity with the town itself.)

For those not aware, Bricks & Minifigs is a fast-growing LEGO aftermarket retail toy store, specializing in not only New In Box Lego / the latest sets, but also and more importantly, Everything Else one cannot get via Lego official stores or the website - retired sets, rare sets, custom builds, minifigs by the millions (both custom and official of infinite variety), slews of cool vendors of associated LEGO products, to say nothing of the Bulk Bin and custom MOC-builder creative heart of the store.

We operate on a Buy-Sell-Trade model, we will pay a fair price for any used bulk Lego, completed sets, collectible minifigs. There will be specific upcoming Buy Days prior to our official Grand Opening, so get your closets in order :)

There will also be a Founders VIP Club (not live yet), which will be a honeypot of sweet deals, early store access, discounts so awesome you'll think I've suffered brain damage, big set raffles, and on and on.

We will also be offering Birthday Parties, and there will be a smorgasbord menu of tiered experiences to choose from (again, under construction, stay tuned, but it's all gonna be awesome).

A big part of the store's DNA will be breathing in as much of the community character as it can muster, while exhaling the simple joy that creating and creativity can provide. We will be doing a metric ton of outreach to local businesses, camps, etc. I have met some of the good folks at Bricks4Kidz and I cannot wait to further enhance and support everything that has been going on there. Down the road there may even be a Lego stop-action Filmmaking Class!

We are also hiring for all positions - Asst Managers & Sales Associates, with ENORMOUS growth available to those of passion and ability that want it. Social Media Manager & Party Host are just two of the MANY roles that the entire team will share and all be expert at. Retail experience is a plus, Lego knowledge is a plus, BUT the guts and core of all requirement is that you must not only be good with kids, BUT you must understand that you are creating an Experience for each and every one of them that comes through that door. Adults too, because we're also in the business of helping grownups find some perhaps lost childhood wonder, which is in short supply these days. If you feel like you're the unicorn who was destined to work here, please do send resumes (and any material you feel is relevant), to bamhobokenresumes@gmail.com

Sorry to go on like this but I hope my formatting and messaging is friendly enough to the eye and ear. There's a FB page and an Insta which I'm finalizing and will be awesome but that isn't primarily how I'm communicating in the early going. I cling to reddit as one of the last outposts of the written word and our honest minds, and a place where actual people can communicate actual thoughts in a coherent and responsible manner. I will be plenty active in this comment thread and in DMs, as the whole store up to this point has been built on the personal connections I've engineered just by walking around town. Looking forward to as much personal interaction as possible and knowing (hundreds? thousands?) of customers on a first-name basis :)

This is my "Hello" and I can't wait to see where the conversation leads! Feel free to drop comments with what you personally would LOVE to see in the store - we will do our utmost to accommodate!

Oh yeah, and we'll also have REALLY cool t-shirts, all designed by ME.

Thanks r/hoboken! Love everyone and everything! Let's do this together!
