In early 2016, Meghan visited Rwanda as a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada, focusing on clean water access and girls' education. She visited a school in the Gasabo region to launch a Watercolor Project, using newly available piped water for children to paint, with proceeds supporting future well construction.

As part of her role with World Vision, she highlighted the link between clean water accessibility, education, and health, noting that improved infrastructure keeps girls in school.

Meghan taught children to paint with watercolors using water from a newly installed community pipe. These paintings were brought to Canada, where she hosted an event to raise funds for additional water projects.

The campaign helped fund new wells in rural communities, with some reports noting her support aided efforts to improve water access for thousands.

She visited rural communities, met with families, and supported initiatives to prevent girls from walking long distances for water.

The trip served as a significant humanitarian and philanthropic venture for Meghan before her time as a working royal, aiming to raise awareness for global water crises.
