STO to get a 3D space map!

According to inside sources, STO is about to get a 3D starmap with a 1:1 rendering of the galaxy - 400 billion stars, most of which are unexplored, using technology similar to the one in Elite Dangerous! This is supposed to replace the current, rather limited map, and offer us some real exploration mechanic, as multiple inside source stated! Apparently this has been in the works for some time, and is supposed to go live within the next six months! There will also be mechanics to build transwarp gates at random points to make travel to and from a given location easier, and in a later phase, they plan to allow us to choose a location for our fleet starbase!

I am really happy to see this coming, finally! Star Trek living up to it's potential! \o/
