Is Bali a Good Destination for a Summer Trip, or Too Crowded?
I’m pretty sure this is something many people ask themselves before deciding to go to Bali, especially during summer. Is Bali still worth it for a summer trip, or has it become too crowded to really enjoy? With so many opinions online, it’s easy to feel unsure. Some say Bali is too busy now, while others still call it one of the best places to visit.
I had the same question before I went. Once I arrived, I quickly saw both sides. Areas like Canggu and Seminyak were definitely busy. Traffic was heavier, restaurants and beach clubs were packed, and the overall vibe felt very lively. Uluwatu was also quite crowded, especially around sunset spots. If you’re expecting a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, these areas might feel a bit overwhelming at first.
But things started to change when I decided to explore beyond those spots. I went to Amed, and it felt like stepping into a completely different Bali. It was calm, less crowded, and the water was incredibly clear. Snorkeling there felt easy and relaxed, without having to share the space with too many people. Time felt slower.
Then I continued to Lovina in the north. The atmosphere there was much more laid-back. I joined a dolphin tour early in the morning, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of my trip. It felt more local and less influenced by heavy tourism.
The place that stayed with me the most was Sidemen. The views of rice fields and mountains felt untouched. There wasn’t much nightlife or distraction, but that’s exactly what made it special. It gave me space to slow down and really enjoy the moment.
That’s when I realized something important. Bali hasn’t really changed. It’s more about how you choose to experience it.
If you only stay in popular areas, then yes, Bali can feel crowded during the summer. But if you’re willing to explore further, you’ll find a different side of the island. One that feels quieter, more authentic, and more personal.
So, is Bali still worth it for a summer trip? I’d say yes. As long as you know where to go, Bali still has a lot to offer!
