Buy from already-imported stock or contract to have it imported?

I'll soon be looking to buy a specific brand, model, and feature set of a particular Kei truck. I want a combination of featues that will be rare. As a result, should I find a company in Japan to locate and export the truck I want, or should I scour the listings of a company who has already imported a bunch of Kei trucks to the U.S.? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each method?
