I think that people should try and be good to others

Society/Culture

Growing up I was always taught that people should be kind and understanding to other people, whether you know them or not. Just be nice, and if they seem to be struggling with something, maybe lend a hand. You don't have to, but doing so, I consider a good thing to do once in a while. Personally it feels good to me to do something nice for someone, so I try to.

I see so much senseless meanness, not like simply goofing on your buddy or family member for being a fool in a playful way, but abject cruelness just for the sake of it. Certainly there's often an underlying basis for these sorts of behaviors or personalities, be it trauma, neurological issues, etc., but I think we can all agree, it's not a good thing. No one's perfect, but if everyone tried to be kinder to each other, I think a lot of problems in the world would be helped a lot.

And for the do-good stuff; I don't expect anyone to sacrifice everything to help others, but the occasional nice gesture, like holding a door, helping someone pick up something, or just a nice compliment, is always welcome. Or even just being nice in general, which takes little effort, and can make anyone who interacts with you feel a bit better, possibly.
