Should I Keep Pursuing a Guy Who’s Moving Abroad for a Year? (21F)

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and would appreciate some advice. I recently reconnected with a guy I’ve known since high school. We’ve always been in the same friend group but never really close. Recently, we’ve started spending more time together and have gone on a few dates which were really fun. Everything felt really great, and we even kissed recently. While kissing i drunkenly told him i hope he doesn’t just see me as a hookup and he said he really doesn’t and knows im not like that.

However, I just found out that he’s going to France for a year for an exchange program. He’s told me he’ll be back during Christmas break, but I’m unsure about what to do. I haven’t been feeling anything since my breakup almost two years ago, and I feel a strong connection with him. But I’m worried about getting attached if he’s not looking for a long-distance relationship.

Should I continue to see where things go, or is it better to cut things off now to avoid potential heartache? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
