What are entry level roles out of undergrad
I go to bentley university. Im a sophomore rn im gonna be a junior next sem and i have a 3.5 GPA currently and i expect to graduate with ~3.5 based on how things have been going. Im double majoring in Data Analytics and Mathematical sciences and a triple minor in Finance, CS, and Business Admin(required for graduation). I love math and im better at it than almost all of these crayon-eating business kids, even most of the people in the actuarial program seem smart but just do so bad on exams… I want to work in quant finance long term because that’s where the money is for doing math. Quant research very long term but my career path that i want to do is undergrad—>???—>MFE—>risk quant at bank—> risk quant at hedge fund or QR at bank—> QR at hedge fund(old ass man).
My question: What the fuck do i do for ??? ? Where are all the entry level quant jobs? Every description online says “you need a masters” like ok bro what do i do out of undergrad? It pisses me off that there are basically ZERO youtube videos or practical google search results to help with this and claude doesnt seem to have the greatest of answers either though it does better.
Currently what im looking at is model validation, market risk, and just data science. The first 2 id do at a bank, because i hear its easier to get hired and im not “hedge fund out of undergrad” material. The third i could do at a bank but id honestly be fine doing anywhere.
Where do quants start their careers???? Besides hedge funds??? I dont go to MIT i dont have a 6.7 GPA im not Jim Simmons grandchild prodigy. I am not particularly exceptional in the grand scheme of things but i am very good at math and i like math and im interested in finance. I just want to do math in finance, not business major math like actual math. Does anyone know what i should be looking at as a first job? Im honestly astounded as to how there is almost no advice on this online
I can provide additional information if necessary
