How is the MS in Chemical Engineering at NYU?
I'm a Chemistry B.S. undergrad admitted to the MS programs Chemical Engineering to NYU Tandon. I'm hoping to gain skills better suited to engineering jobs in energy, semiconductors, or aerospace (currently do not plan on PhD).
I was admitted to NYU Tandon with a highly competitive fellowship package (full tuition + fees, but not living expenses). However, Tandon seems to rank pretty poorly among chemical engineering graduate schools and I don't like how the Brooklyn campus is separated from the rest of the college. However, I'd be happy attending this school if the alumni, industry connections are great.
I was also admitted to Columbia and Northwestern (unfortunately with no funding) but they seem to have a better program and job placements in chemical engineering. The industry connections seem to be better and the university prestige in engineering is a huge bonus (although is it worth the tuition?)
However, is NYU Tandon really that limited in career outcomes in chemical engineering? Any advice on if I should accept the funding or choose another school? Everyone I know say it's known for its business and arts programs compared to engineering. For reference, I plan on landing a job on the West Coast post-graduation, so wondering if NYU Tandon would help me get jobs outside of NYC companies.
