Veeam Appliance 13 installation/migration does not appear ready for production.

I am looking at moving from VBR to Appliance for clients, however, the initial deployment has not been a great experience for a couple of reasons. I have listed the issues by Veeam appliance iso used for installation.

VeeamBackup&Replication_13.0.1.1071_20251217.iso

  • Installation was straight forward
    • RAM: 16+ 500mb per concurrent backup job
    • CPU: 8vCPU
    • Hard drives: 2 x 240gb
    • Hosted on Hyper-V
  • Connection to service provider console was easy
  • Connection to NAS presented some unexpected challenges to overcome, mainly no support for NTLM, no real issue here as NTLM is being phased out anyway.
  • Upon trying to update, the certificate had expired, this was not easily identifiable.
    • Applied hotfix
      • Veeam-updater got stuck in an activating state (restarting)
  • After numerous attempts to resolve, removed installation and rebuilt appliance.
    • The below version was released after we downloaded this iso and planned our deployment.

VeeamSoftwareAppliance_13.0.1.2067_20260310.iso

  • After taking the learnings from the previous installation, installation was quick and straight forward.
  • Connections to service provider was straight forward,
  • Appliance licences
  • Update process was smooth and easy
  • Came back the next morning expecting to manually create jobs and commence first backup
    • Unable to connect to web interface or desktop application
    • Found NetworkManager stopped
      • Manually started NetworkManager
    • Found veeam-updater to have failed
      • Stuck in activating state once more.
      • completed basic attempts to stop/start, however, given both failures, I have concluded Veeam Appliance is not ready for production.

Question: Has anyone else had similar experiences or is this isolated?
