Why did choso have to do that?

(Spoiler cause manga spoiler) But why did choso have to sacrifice his life to save yuji? am i missing something? couldn’t he have just gone inside the big blood sphere too and saved his own life also (if it’s explained in the manga i might’ve missed it or forgot about it it’s been half a year since i read it last)
