DWG affecting curves sensitivity

Help

I'm using Resolve Studio for film restoration and working from a rec709 source file, and to my understanding, it's best practice to use a CST on both ends of the node tree to transform into DWG/DI at the beginning and back to rec709 after all corrections.

However, since I started doing this I noticed that curve nodes are MUCH more sensitive: moving a curve ever so slightly makes much more drastic changes than just working in the rec709 space the whole time. Other tools like the color warper seem more sensitive too.

Why is this happening? Am I missing something? Is there a better way to do this? Can I manage color with the Input and Output display transform nodes well also having more latitude with curves adjustments?

Thank you!

PS Whatever your advice may be, would it change if I'm working from a log source file?
