WHEN should i use Rodger or not?

I keep having a sense that im being punished for not using Rodger, because what if i encounter a main twisted? i would miss out on SOOOO MUCH Research if i do. So im stuck in a situation where i want to use other character, but Rodger is kinda just too valuable to not use
