Can someone with social anxiety do nursing?

Pre-Nursing 🩺

I have social anxiety and I’m really interested in nursing, but I’m worried I won’t be able to handle the constant interaction with patients, coworkers, and clinical settings.

I do well one-on-one and I genuinely care about people, but group settings, being “on the spot,” and new environments can feel overwhelming sometimes.

For those of you in nursing (or in school), has social anxiety gotten better with exposure, or does it stay just as hard? And are there certain areas of nursing that feel more manageable with it?

I’d really appreciate honest experiences 🙏
