When can someone who was sick be around a newborn
I have a scheduled c section April 9 which is about 9 days away from today. My immediate family including mom, dad, and two sisters were supposed to come down to visit next week since they are from out of town. However, my mom just told me that my dad is sick with a cough and headache but it’s not covid. Obviously if he is showing symptoms I would not want him to come and wait to visit baby. How long after not having symptoms would it be safe for him to visit baby? If he is not showing symptoms would it be safe as long as he is wearing mask, washing hands, and limiting exposure to baby? Also what about for my family that is in house with him? My mom told me that he is distancing himself from them and wearing mask to reduce the rest of the family getting sick. Would y’all let these family members come if they are not sick or showing symptoms even though they have been around a sick person ? My mom is the main person I would want to come down still since she would be helping me and fiancé with baby and my c section recovery. Has anyone else experienced this before ?
Any advice and general guidelines would be greatly appreciated.
