AITAH: I call HR on Walmart employee for apologizing

My boyfriend (25 male) and I (24 female) took our 16 month old son to Walmart. He loves to push the cart around and when he’s pushing it around we always make sure that one of us has a hand on it to help him not crash into stuff. We had so many customers and even a few employees stop to say hi to our son, many made comments about how cute and how strong he is.

When we got to the self checkout lines, we let him push the cart up to the line, I then told my boyfriend to pick our son up and he could take him out to the car because I’ll be there soon (we only had 3 thing in our cart). My boyfriend does just that, and I hear a Walmart associate stop another family walking behind mine and tell them “I am so sorry about that man in front of you, letting his baby push the cart around” and they looked at her confused.

She has said this before twice in the past but I honestly tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because other times the store had been very busy, and who knows? Maybe there was another family who was doing something similar but weren’t helping direct the cart?
This time was different because the store was not busy and there weren’t any other babies pushing a cart.

When I was walking out she said she could take my cart, I said “No. I got it.” Walked up to a different Walmart associate and asked where I could find a manager. I did talk to an manager about it and I actually used to work with him. He told me he would talk to her, but even the next day I just really don’t feel right about it, so I called Walmart HR. They apologized on Walmart’s behalf, I gave them my email and I was told they would be updating me with all the actions and steps they take.

Im really not the person who calls and complains about an employee, I understand having bad days. I have worked MULTIPLE food service and retail jobs. I always show customer service employees the most respect, but this was my family, my child.
