Things that still throws me off after decades on plumbing estimates jobs
Been doing plumbing and drainage estimates for donkey’s years. Thought I’d seen it all, but every now and then a job still manages to sneak something past me...
Last week I was looking over a stormwater job. Vendor numbers looked okay it's fine, my takeoffs seemed alright, but there was a tiny valve and a couple of fittings on the plans that didn’t get quoted anywhere. Could’ve eaten into the margin if I hadn’t spotted it.
Stuff like that reminds me why I always do my own takeoffs and check the plans line by line instead of just trusting supplier numbers or the “fluff.” Even after all these years, little surprises like that keep you sharp.
Anyone else still get caught out by small details that are easy to miss?
