Cozy Courting Recs
I'm looking for some book recommendations specifically on Amazon KU. I'm fine with all LGBTQ dynamics, am open to MF recs as well as harem, and don't mind if a series is unfinished. Self-Promo is welcome if it matches what I'm looking for.
What I don't enjoy:
- Heavy Smut, Low Plot
- Repetitiveness
- Contemporary
- Mafia
- Detective / Crime
- Academia
- Chosen One
What do I mean by repetitiveness? I recently tried reading {Knot My Reality by Miranda May} and had to DNF after about 100 pages. The premise is that it's an omegaverse reality show similar to the bachelorette for omegas considered past their prime. There are 20 potential love interests with a mix of alphas and betas with both packs and individuals. The problem is that the POVs kept switching to the FL and a new ML with the same introduction phase followed by two interviews for the entire 100 pages and it wasn't even finished by the time I dropped it. They kept mentioning the game waiting room and rose ceremony too, which just got really old. So, the repetitiveness entirely refers to within a single story. I have no problem with cliche tropes.
What I enjoy:
- Neurodiverse / ill FLs w/ caretaking from MCs
- Fun dates, gifts, & courtship
- World Building
- Cute / Cozy Vibes
I recently enjoyed {A Pack For Autumn by Emilia Emerson}. It's really a shame that only the first book is on KU as I would have happily devoured the other ones. It's an interconnected standalone series set in a small town. The FL has a lot of insecurities and health issues. The 2/3 MLs are all in from the beginning and the third isn't terrible to the FL.
{Chosen Series by Stacy Jones} was fun for the first few books. I thought the world building with the fruit, matriarchal society, and courtship rituals was a lot of fun. I just couldn't really get into the last book that the author decided to tack on after initially ending the series.
{The Female by Invi Wright} had some fun dynamics between the love interests. I enjoyed the world building and thought that Chev's Mate was a great follow up. I wasn't particularly a fan of the cheating, but it's such a grey area with how it went down that it's hard to know what to think about it being included.
Out of non-RH romance, I also enjoyed {Clecanian Series by Victoria Aveline} and {Mate Hunt by Lola Glass}. The first has really well written characters and some great world building. The second has some unique pack dynamics and courtship rituals, which I loved reading about. There's a more recent ongoing standalone series set in the same world, but I just didn't enjoy it as much.
Looking forward to anything you can suggest!
