Does anyone own an updated MLD ProVent Bivy (Soul/FKT) and could provide a review? How does it compare to heavier Alpine bivies for waterproofness?
I'm interested in trying a waterproof breathable bivy without any tarp or pitching, for ultra marathon purposes where I would only be in my bivy for short sleeps. I've always been curious about no-tarp no-pitching waterproof breathable bivies, they're the one shelter system I've yet to try, but I like the idea of just plopping down a bivy regardless of weather at the end of the day and crawling in.
I plan to carry only warm-while-wet insulation (alpha, apex, etc.), so condensation, while I would obviously prefer as little as possible, isn't a huge concern to me (but I will be more picky with site
The MLD ProVent ones caught my eye for their UL weight.
Heavier alternatives, although still lightweight compared to a tent, are OR Alpine XT, OR Helium UL Bivy, or the Rab Alpine Bivi (doesn't seem to be available in the U.S.).
