Manufacturing order quantity increased by sales order cancel and confirm

Hello, we just upgraded from Odoo 17 to 19. We have Manufacture and Replenish on Order (MTO) enabled on our products. When a sales order is confirmed a manufacturing order is created. If that SO is cancelled and then confirmed again the MO quantity is updated again. So, if the customer ordered one Item A the MO now shows two Item A to be produced. In Odoo 17 this would have created another MO with an exception / alert.

I already have some pending custom code to cancel MOs when SOs are cancelled but I'm wondering why Odoo 19 behaves this way and if there is a way to stop increasing the quantity on MOs through configuration.

Has anyone run into this and know how to change the behavior within Odoo 19?
