Escape
You were lost in your own wild world,
then you found me, comfortably waiting for someone in the sanctuary I built from tears and pain.
You didn’t ask for my name,
but you gave me something else, comforting words that you skillfully wove with love and care.
You were looking for an escape.
I was looking for a home.
After an eternity of searching, we found each other.
We built something more than we expected, a beautiful portal to our own euphoric dimension that only our souls can enter.
I found myself staring at the blank, pearl-white canvas, thinking, “Why is my ceiling white? I should’ve asked if he likes to add colour to this room.”
That was one of the million thoughts that rushed into my mind the moment you shut my front door,
a sharp, tugging feeling in my chest, hoping and praying for the best.
I felt that a part of me went with your earthy body when you decided to return to the reality you were trying to escape.
I know you’ll be back in your dark place, a place where you truly belong, alone with thoughts that devoured you so badly that I can almost still feel your scars against my fingers.
I didn’t ask for your name,
but I gave you the comfort you were looking for, hoping it would sway your mind to keep staying,
maybe for another minute or an hour more. I just wanted to feel your warmth.
Then I laughed and gently pushed you away, laughing at my own crazy idea.
Softly, with a smile, I whispered, “Go ahead, they are waiting for your warm hugs and passionate kisses.”
You smiled gracefully (oh God, that smile of yours 🥵) holding two small bags of treats I made as a gift for them.
I know you’ll never see me again on this deathbed, but I will patiently wait and continue searching, even if it takes another eternity, just to be with you again.
I cried in silence,
and laughed in silence,
hoping she won’t find the red lingerie I placed in your bag’s side pocket.
