[Field/Pilot Watch] Help: crystal material, size and more

Discussion

I´m far from being any sort of watch expert.
In the last 15y I used mostly an unexpensive Casio Pro Trek which is still working fine, but the strap is slowly failing and I´d use the opportunity to get something new.

More specifically, I am looking for a field/pilot style watch and at the moment I´m considering these models.

Citizen AW5000 - mineral crystal, 42mm

Wenger Terragraph - sapphire coated mineral crystal, 43mm

Festina F20082 - sapphire crystal, 38mm

Festina F20081 - sapphire crystal, 42mm

Up to now I considered the sapphire crystal simply superior to mineral and I didn´t consider that it´s also more brittle and easier to shatter.
I would use the watch on a daily basis, nothing wild, but also for hiking and skiing and maybe road cycling, but not necessarily there.

The Festina models have a sort of magnifying lens above the date window: would this act as stress concentrator in case of impact?
Would the smaller F20082 model be less sensible to impacts?
What is the take about "sapphire coated", it´s just a marketing gag or is it a sensible compromise?

In between I just ordered a Militado 05 with Ronda movement (date) and sapphire glass as lab rat to get a feeling of the watch type and the size.
It´s a 38mm like the smaller Festina and probably on the lower end of what I´d like.

Thanks in advance.
