I ordered from 5 DTF transfer suppliers to compare quality and cost - complete results

I've been using DTF transfers for 6 months and always wondered if I was getting the best deal. So I ordered the same 5 designs from 5 different suppliers to compare head-to-head.

The Test Setup

- Design: 5 different designs (small logo, full front, full back, sleeve print, all-over)
- Size: All 11.7 x 16.5 inch gang sheets
- Quantity: 10 sheets per supplier (50 total)
- Test fabric: 100% cotton Gildan 5000 (washed 5 times each)
- Press: AKEYDIY 15x15 heat press, 305°F, 15 seconds

Supplier Comparison

Quality Testing Criteria

I tested each supplier on 5 criteria (scored 1-10):

  1. Color accuracy (compared to digital file)
  2. Wash durability (after 5 washes at 140°F)
  3. Adhesion strength (peel test)
  4. Feel/hand (how soft/stiff on fabric)
  5. Edge quality (clean cuts, no extra film)

Detailed Results Summary

Supplier A (Balanced Choice): Total 42/50 (8.4/10)
- Color: 9/10, Wash test: 8/10, Adhesion: 9/10
- Verdict: My new go-to. Good balance of price, speed, and quality.

Supplier B (Slow But Steady): Total 36/50 (7.2/10)
- Cheapest if you order 50+ dollars, but quality is just okay.

Supplier D (Premium Option): Total 47/50 (9.4/10)
- Best quality but 33% more expensive. Worth it for premium products.

Cost Per Wear Analysis

I calculated cost per wear assuming 20 washes per shirt. Surprise: Supplier D (most expensive upfront) is cheapest per wear because it lasts longer.

My Recommendations

For beginners: Start with Supplier A
For budget orders: Supplier B if ordering 50+ dollars
For premium products: Supplier D

Bottom Line

You get what you pay for in DTF transfers, but the most expensive isn't always best. Supplier A hits the sweet spot for my business.

Total test cost: 200 dollars (50 transfers)
Time invested: 12 hours testing + washing
Value: Now I know exactly who to order from for each job

Happy to share supplier names via DM if you want specifics.
