grade deflation in pre-med at your school? Looking for honest experiences.
I'm a junior in high school working through my college list, and one of my biggest concerns is grade deflation.
Most GPA data online is cumulative across all majors, which doesn't really tell you much about how hard it is to get A's in the classes that actually matter for med school. So I'd rather just hear from people who've been through it.
A few things I'm curious about:
- Grade deflation: If you put in serious work, is getting an A realistic? Or does the grading just make it nearly impossible regardless?
- Professor accessibility: Are professors and TAs actually helpful when you're struggling, or are you mostly on your own?
- Research: How easy is it to get into a lab as a freshman or sophomore? Is it competitive?
- Pre-med advising: Is your school's advising office worth using, or is it pretty useless?
- Hindsight: Would you pick the same school again for pre-med?
Happy to hear from any school, but I'm mostly considering T-30 schools. Thanks!
