Misogyny in jobs is so common

For context I am a trans man, an I’m a locksmith but I work mostly at the shop

When I first started to work last year there I looked quite feminine, I wasn’t on T or anything and almost everyone treated me like I was stupid, especially male customers. I remember this one man in particular who came in on my first week working, he wanted a coloured key and I was showing him what he could choose from (our coloured keys came in KW1, WR5, and SC4/SC1) I was telling him that he could only choose from one side of the board because it was the same as his key and he was waving me off and being rude, essentially talking me to shut up. A huge percentage of the customers would talk down to me or be rude in some form .

Now I’m almost 7 months on T and I look and sound a lot different and I pass now and all of a sudden everyone is so nice to me and actually listens to me. I even saw the same dude who was rude to me a couple of weeks ago and I guess he didn’t recognize me because all of a sudden he was actually treating me with respect.

This type of shit will always be overlooked in workplaces because a lot of men will never see it as a problem (because they aren’t the ones affected) so it will always be brushed off and I hate that.
