Rodent issue

I never expected this but in the 5 years i've lived in this basement apartment we finally started to see rats, we've had issues with roaches, spiders, flies and an occasional Centipede but since about a few months I suspected we've had a rodent since every night I would hear weird noises and swear saw a shadow of something scurring around but my mom and sister always told me I was being overdramatic and that it was nothing.

Since my sister moved away, we've discovered maybe 2 or 3 rodents in the apartment under my mom's bed and under my aunt's stuff, we learned they've been hiding in my aunt's storage room so we waited until they escaped into that room since my aunt doesn't use it and trapped them in there, this was around 6am yesterday and they've been gnawing and scratching the door since, at least one of them have also started to squeak, we set up a bait trap near the door in case they manage to break through the thick wooden door which hopefully works if it happens, what more can we do? we really can't afford a professional right now and can't buy more traps until the weekend. I honestly doubt we have way more than 3 since we don't hear anything else and the apartment is small.
