Got my suspended FB and IG account back after 23 days (appeal pending) : this is what actually worked.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my experience because I was stuck for 3+ weeks with a suspended Facebook account and reading Reddit threads was the only thing keeping me sane. Maybe this will help someone.

________

SITUATION

My account got suspended for “fraud / deception”

I did NOTHING related to that (no ads, no shady activity, normal use).

My personal Instagram was linked and got suspended too.

I submitted an appeal → no response for 23 days

Completely stuck, no way to contact support.

Please note that the suspension was likely triggered by a post I made, since it happened immediately.

Meta's AI seem quite sensitive when you're talking about health and/or weight loss, even when you're a healthcare professional doing prevention like me (AI misses context and confuses prevention with promotion).

There's a session under "Fraud" regarding weightloss scams.

This caused my suspension on FB but curiously it didn't get flagged on my professional IG. Of course, the content was 100% compliant with the community standards, I even re-read them to be sure.

But maybe go check if you didn't violate something on your side, since I was surprised to read that mentioning weight loss was strictly monitored.

It makes me paranoid now cause I'm a registered dietitian.

_______

WHAT DIDN'T WORK

Waiting (obviously).

Trying to find contact forms.

Basically, the classic route = dead end.

I wanted to try Meta Verified with my professional IG (curiously unsuspended), but they wouldn't let me out of the waiting list. Weird since this account had 6 months of existence, a few hundred followers, 40 posts, daily stories and lots of interactions from my followers.

_____

WHAT WORKED

Three days ago, I gave up on the appeal and tried something different :

I went through the “My account was hacked” flow.

Steps I followed:

Logged out of Facebook

Opened an incognito window

Went to the hacked account page

Entered my email

Then came the key moment:

Facebook asked if I recognized linked Instagram account.

I selected “This isn’t me” (even though technically it was).

Then confirmed my email + phone

What happened next

I went through a quick security check, reset my password, got logged back in.

And immediately after that: my accounts were unsuspended automatically, I recieved an email saying they got it wrong and my account indeed was compliant with community standard (NO SHIT !).

_______

MY UNDERSTANDING

It looks like :

The appeal system is slow / broken.

The “hacked account” flow triggers a priority security review.

That review seems to re-evaluate the suspension properly with a better calibrated IA.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Please consider that triggering this reevaluation could go in your defavor and get you perma-banned ! ⚠️⚠️⚠️ I'm just lucky I won my appeal.

____

IMPORTANT

I wasn’t actually hacked, I didn’t exploit anything malicious, I just used a different recovery path because the normal one didn’t work.

_____

ADVICE

If you’re stuck : Don’t rely only on the appeal, try the hacked account recovery flow.

_____

FINAL NOTE

This was stressful as hell, so I know how it feels.

Hope this helps someone get their account back faster than I did.
