UChicago vs. UC Berkeley for statistics/data science
I was admitted to UC Berkeley's statistics and data science in-person program, as well as UChicago's online applied data science program.
I'm having trouble deciding which program to attend.
- On the one hand, attending an in-person is probably better for networking. However, I live about 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Berkeley, and I don't plan on moving. I'll spend the bulk of my life for the next year simply commuting.
- Also, I think UChicago's program is a bit more applied (and maybe more applicable to jobs), and UC Berkeley's program is a bit more theoretical.
- UCB gave me no financial aid but has the cheapest base price, and UChicago gave me a partial scholarship. In the end, UCB and UChicago will end up costing the same.
- As an added consideration, I don't live in the Midwest, so I'm looking for a school that's going to open doors across the country, or ideally internationally.
Can anyone give advice?
