how to self improve without 10 apps collecting dust on your home screen
Downloading apps feels like progress. It isn't.
The pattern I've seen in myself and basically everyone I know: you download Notion to get organized, a habit tracker for the new routine, a focus timer, a journaling app, Headspace, and some kind of learning app. You use them for a combined total of about 9 days. Then they sit there until you feel guilty enough to delete them in a batch.
My recs:
Pick one area. One. The single most important habit you're not doing consistently. Forget everything else for now.
Find a tool with the lowest possible friction for that one thing. I use Todoist for tasks and WIP app for habits. WIP specifically because it adds a visibility layer that solo trackers don't have. You log with a photo, your year builds as a contribution grid, a community of founders and athletes can see it. The accountability of someone else seeing whether you showed up is different from a private streak counter going to zero in silence.
Then don't evaluate whether it's working for three months. Not three weeks. Week two feels like effort with no return and that's when most people quit.
After three months, add the second thing.
The 10-app home screen is procrastination dressed as optimization.
