Advice for buying pc

Discussion

I got a budget of 1,300. The main focus for this is for school, I'm a psych major so I won't need to render anything but I'm also an avid gamer in my free time, I play mostly single player games bg3, witcher, cyberpunk, Skyrim, souls games, and occasionally apex or whatever my friends are playing so we can play together. Part of me says to get a decent laptop for school and save to buy a desktop specifically for gaming but all my classes are online anyways but I travel every other weekend out of my city for family reasons. So does anyone have any recommendations or advice as to what I should get. I've had bad luck in the past my PCs only seem to last a year or 2 then die out and to fix them costs as much as a new pc. I want something that will last a long time people in here know more about modern day computer specs and maintenance than I do so please any information or advice is greatly appreciated
