My long distance partner [21M] is depressed and I [19F] don't know how to help him.

Me and my boyfriend have been together for over two years but since last year we've been doing long distance.

In the last few weeks, he has been telling me that he's depressed. And like a supportive partner, I've been trying to help him feel better but I don't know if I'm doing it correctly.

I've been facetiming him before bed so he feels less alone, trying to make him feel better through words of affirmations, encouraging him to do things like sitting in the sun and listening to music or playing video games.

But in the last few days, he has been a little withdrawn from me, he doesn't tell me what he's doing with his time like he used to, doesn't text me much and goes to bed early, doesn't open up about what he's feeling.

I tried talking to him but it isn't helping.

I know it's a little selfish considering that he's depressed and probably doesn't have much energy to do anything but I miss how our relationship used to be. I miss his time. His efforts.

I just want to help him but I don't know how. I feel really lonely because I don't have any friends to talk with either. I need some advice to navigate this.
