If Ubisoft doesn't do this, they're truly lost.

Assassin's Creed 1 is the only game that hasn't received an upgrade or remaster in its entire existence, despite having so much to offer.

It boasted a more advanced combat system than its successors, but its parkour was clunkier, though it was improved over time. The story was also far too long, considering that information could be gathered from multiple sources to complete a mission, not to mention the Banners.

A remake of this game, utilizing the new capabilities of the era, would be incredibly exciting: New missions, enemies, and other significant events could be added to expand the game, similar to what we saw in AC Revelations.

The first game is so forgotten, along with Altaïr himself, that even his outfit hasn't included his gauntlet in the games since ACIII.

This really is the only opportunity. I don't see any other major event in history that would make for an exciting Assassin's Creed game again.

They're not planning on doing Russia because they already included it in Chronicles, and the international tensions prevent it.

They wouldn't do China because it's also in Chronicles.

They completely missed the opportunity to use Mexico, the only country with a clear eagle drawn on its flag, ancient temples, and cities reminiscent of great European cities of long ago. Just like they missed the opportunity and the hype to make an AC game in Japan a decade ago, there's no chance with this country.

I can't see an Assassin's Creed in Korea, Brazil or India, i can't see the same impact as the rest of the previous games with the actual status of Ubisoft.

The only way to save the saga, a remake of AC1 for the 20th
