I’ve been doing my PADI open water in Koh Tao, Thailand, for 2 days, with the third day today (I had to miss it unfortunately). Last night at around midnight, about 10 hours after 2nd dive (only to 10m) I noticed my fingers and hands were a bit numb/prickly. Also red bumps all over my hands.

I researched a lot, and decided to go to the local hospital. They weren’t great and the language barrier made it tricky but I got oxygen for around 45 minutes, and an IV bag, plus something to reduce my mild light head. Arguably that med made me more light headed.

I went home and slept for around 5 hours then went back once the doctor was in. He decided to refer me to a specialist in a hospital in Koh Samui where I’m headed later. They’ll supposedly do checks and tell me whether I need hyperbaric treatment or not. I spoke to the dive instructors earlier, and they said from 2 dives at a max of 10m, it would be very unlikely to get DCS.

I now think I have very mild numbness in my feet, which I hadn’t noticed before.

The real problem is I have a domestic flight booked for tomorrow morning from Koh Samui to the north. It will have been nearly 40 hours since my last dive, but if I do have DCS then I know I shouldn’t fly.

Feeling a bit panicked and out of my depth, excuse the pun. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Potential DCS, need advice.
