The UNAS graceful shutdown situation
Morning y'all,
I need to replace my NAS, and given that my network is almost entirely Unifi at this point, the UNAS Pro 4 looks very interesting.
But then I tried to dig into the graceful shutdown question. There is so little documentation it's crazy. Obviously I'm not going to by a NAS that doesn't shut down on power failure. Not gonna happen.
Here's what I understand:
- None of the Unifi devices can process a power loss signal from a UPC via the standard USB signal.
- The Unfi UPS 2U is the only rack UPS that could tell the UNAS to shut down, but it is sold out.
- In principle you could DIY a dedicated linux box that reacts to USB and then shuts down the UNAS via SSH. But I'd have to maintain that linux manually.
Is this right? Are there any other options to run the UNAS? Is there a roadmap / fix / announcement from Ubiquiti? This just feels so unbelievably stupid.
