Would you take the job?
I am a qualified teacher and support children with SEN. I live in Europe. My current job I am happy at but I’ve done the same class three years. I want to settle and have a family in the next couple. I saw a job advert working in a city for a private teacher for one child with SEN. I applied and after a lot of push backs (because of my distance etc) they gave me an interview.
They loved me so have given me a four day paid trial.
It’s the holidays and I normally provide respite to another family at this time of year but they understood that I couldn’t do it.
I spoke to the recruitment lady and she’s telling me the family also want me for the holidays in May to see if they really want me. But this is literally up to hours before my notice period.
I don’t want to make my work wait long periods of time, I understand I can but I want to give them time to find the right candidate! It’s really unfair not to when they’ve been good to me. Who on earth does 9 TRIAL days? Someone else is doing one trial day. Does that mean they can decide if they like them in one day but with me they can’t?
Am I honest with the family today about this? Do I email the agency and let her deal with this?
I don’t want to be paid 9 trial days because the fee isn’t great with the commute and time I am putting in place as it is.
I’m not trying to rush them to make a decision but if schools can decide after half a days interview and observation then SURELY you know after 4 whole days?
