WIBTA if I reviewed an innovative new form of educational instruction?

April Fools

I (58M) was recently approached by an old schoolmate of mine about some commercial enterprise he's involved in that he thinks will change the world. Now, he's a bit of a huckster and his academic discipline is poor - he dropped out of our program after only a semester and his writing shows a disappointing tilt towards the passionate sensationalist - but I have to admit that I'm interested.

Before I took my current job I accomplished some fairly revolutionary things in the field of higher education, and frankly, I think much of the academy continues to deserve a good lecture. But more intriguing is what this could do for those who don't have the benefit of it. Democracy works when White Male Protestants (although I am starting to warm up to White Male Catholics provided they do not follow Rome) are educated about current events and history, and a new way to teach them is, indeed, something to consider.

In truth, after the passing of my beloved wife (54F) five months ago, I've been living dead in heart and body and have functioned mostly for the compulsion of duty. I could honestly use an evening where I'm not just sitting around reading, and currently, that even excludes newspapers to maintain what's left of my composure. My doctor takes me golfing to get me out of the house as much as he can, but I'm not allowed to be seen at social events in public for another month, and there's some real additional appeal because it turns out this review could be done in private.

It would be a lot easier on my daughter - the poor thing has had to give up her singing career - than most anything else I've asked of her so far with her mother's passing, since her only burden would be to instruct our house servants set up chairs. I could invite some of my own staff for the event, and I admit it would be good to see them socially for the first time in months to a white tie and tails function. Come to think of it, I wonder if I could get my doctor to invite that beautiful lady (42F) I saw the other day while on our drive to the golf course. He seems to know her!

Now I will admit there have been some complaints been made about my school mate, his work, and this in particular especially with a title like The Clansman (what a regrettable organization!), but I don't put much weight in the opinions of the people making them, and besides, I'm smarter than them. Maybe they'll learn from it.

WIBTA for my movie night? It really does seem to check a lot of boxes!
