The Soul of Sanguinius

I was just in another thread discussing whether or not Sanguinius could be resurrected. My opinion? No he couldn't, because in The End and the Death III, it describes:

"Indeed, he seems more than lifeless. The Great Angel, it seems, has suffered worse than mortal death. Spirit and soul have been obliterated. There is a terrible sense of utter extinction, as though life has not just been ended, but was never there to begin with."

So his soul is GONE, gone, according to this.

Which brings me to the real question.

What the HECK is interacting with Dante during his whole near-death "take me with you, father!" encounter with what appears to be the Ghost of Sanguinius? Could some aspect of Sanguinius really come back? Possibly the Star Child appearing as the Great Angel in a plot-armored Space Marine's time of need? Straight up hallucinations? Or Is it just the ghost of Too Many Authors and an inconsistency just naturally arose?
