Please help

This is going to be long so yeah..

I’m a 27(f) single mum I have my own home. So I moved here in August as I was looking for a bigger home for me and my children. Abit of context 3 weeks ago as I was showering my children before bed around 7:30 I heard a huge crashing noise and I honestly thought my cupboards in the kitchen had fallen down or something that’s literally what it sounded like so as the single parent I am I had to go downstairs to check if everything was okay I check all the doors and windows and everything seemed fine? I looked out the windows and nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary, and to be completely honest I went about my life and forgot about it because I couldn’t figure out what the noise was I just didn’t think about it again? Then last week around 10 whilst my children were already asleep for the night I was in bed on my laptop doing some work when the same thing happened same giant crashing sound so loud and hard that it seemed to shake my windows this time because I wasn’t in the bathroom when it happened but sat in my room with the door open I realised what it was. Someone had kicked my door full force. I ran to into the hallway and just waited a few seconds seemed like hours tbh but it was only a few seconds. It didn’t happen again. So I ran to my bedroom window and looked out. No one was there. But my garden gate was open. I rang my dad and he came over checked everything out and said it must have just been some drunk person (as I live behind a pub) so I just put it behind me even tho I was on kind of alert now that I knew someone had actually intentionally kicked my door twice but I still carried on with my day to day duties. Here’s what’s put me through a fucking loop. Yesterday my younger brother came over chilled for abit and left around 7:45 my children are usually in bed for 8 but due to their uncle being here I let them stay up abit. So after he left i was giving them their dinner for the night it was around 8:00 now when there was a knock at the door, so ive gone to open the door bare in mind im already turning the fucking key because no one but family ever knocks on my door I don’t know anyone else in this area so as I’m turning the key something in my just told me ‘stop being an idiot and look through the fucking peep hole’ so I did I looked through the peep hole and there was stood a teenager/young man in a balaclava. my door was already unlocked by this point but I hadn’t touched the handle yet so they must have not realised because I hadn’t touched the handle to open the door. I as quietly as I possible could started turning the key to lock it again whilst in absolute pure shock and dread stared out the peep hole as this masked person. I locked the door but I was still staring out the peep hole only to realise there was 3 of them, I was honestly fucking frozen. My fight or flight had kicked in except it was neither of them I was frozen. Glued to the fucking spot like some idiot and then I heard it a girls voice, from what I remember she said something like ‘hello hello is anyone there can you please open the door’ I’m still staring thru the peep hole but there wasn’t a girl there only 3 boys/men/teenagers (idk what to call them) they kept knocking and the girls voice kept repeating the same thing all whilst I’m stood there like some idiot. Only when someone kicked the door did I unfreeze by this point my children had gone silent and my youngest two started crying I ran to them telling them to shhh and please try to be brave and told them we need to go upstairs. All this is happening whilst they’re still kicking my door full force, I got them all upstairs told my oldest to lock the door of the bathroom and I’ll just be standing outside and to be as silent as possible. I rang the police, the locking stopped after a few minutes and it was complete silence I actually honestly thought they had gotten in but the police arrived in about 5/6 minutes and by the time they got here no one was there. They were gone :/ all of this happened in like 7/8 minutes from what I’ve gathered by checking when I called to police to when they arrived. I’m honestly full of anxiety and I’m dreading being here, my brothers put up a ring door bell for me today and I constantly keep checking it and triple checking all the doors and windows I couldn’t sleep at all last night. I’ve spoken to the neighbours they all gave me their phone numbers and told me to call them if I ever feel scared of if anything like this happens again. I genuinely am filled with dread. The police said maybe because they were teenagers they were looking for the people who lived here before me as the lady had teenage sons? But after I spoke to the neighbours they told me the lady had only moved a street away and everyone knew where she lived now I’m over thinking, is it because I’m an ethnic minority or is it because they’re looking for someone to scare? What did they want? Who did they want? I just keep replaying the part where I unlocked the door like a complete idiot. Please if you have any advice let me know
