Does anyone know or have autonomic neuropathy?
Hi guys, I've been doing lots of reading since last year when I started having resting tachycardia. It came up suddenly and hasn't left (fortunately I am on a beta blocker for it now). My PCP at the time referred me to cardiology, who conducted an echocardiogram & Holter monitor.. Both came back normal. I am seeing an electrophysiologist this week.
Since the appointment is coming up, I was reminded of diabetic neuropathies and especially in regards to the autonomic system. From what I've seen online & read on some research articles, resting tachycardia is an early stage symptom.
I'm in my early 20s, I was diagnosed T2D at 18 years old and had been pre-diabetic my entire life (childhood to adolescence). I have one parent that has T2D and many extended family members with the exact type. The parent with T2D has had radiculopathy issues, but was able to take care of it with diet changes & going on Ozempic. It wouldn't be crazy of me to think I could have early stage CAN (cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy)?
I think what I want to ask is if anyone here has specifically autonomic neuropathy or dysfunction? What were the symptoms? What tests were conducted to determine the diagnosis? What's treatment like? I have heard many times of neuropathy on the legs, hands, eyes.. Haven't seen much about autonomic neuropathy though.
TLDR: I developed sudden resting tachycardia & am curious if I show early stage CAN. I wonder how it is tested & diagnosed and what to expect afterwards.
