Where to go for 6-7 days Laos or Uzbekistan
Hi guys so I’m a bit perplexed about where exactly to go between Laos and Uzbekistan.
I’ll give you a brief run down about me and then how I narrowed it to those two places. So I’m in my mid 30s, Indian who has lived outside India since birth, but I get to travel once a year due to work. So I usually get about a month or a bit more off and I go to India to see my parents and extended family. I try to take a trip out of India at least for a week to get away from it all and see a new perspective on things, perhaps change my way of thinking if you will. My last two trips in 2023 and 2025 were to Vietnam and Cambodia respectively. I thoroughly loved Siem Reap.
Another reason I want to travel is also to just experience different food, different beers (big on beer) and meet people from different walks of life. History, peace, drinks are very important to me and equally if not more so meeting different people.
So now I’m torn between going either to Laos this year or Uzbekistan.
So the reason for Laos is I loved the temples I came across in Cambodia and I think I’ll experience more of it there. I think it’s sort of the upcoming part of SE Asia when you compare it to Thailand, Vietnam etc and a lot more peaceful. If I were to go here I’d spend my time between Luang Prabang and Vientiane.
Then for Uzbekistan I’d be spending most of time in Samarkand and Bukhara - I think those are some of the richest historical cities in the region. It’s a part of the world I’ve not been yet.
So I’m torn. I’ve gone over this at least 20 times in the last month.
I’ll be traveling somewhere between May-July.
Any advice is welcome honestly.
