First time renter - seeking advice on contract clause

tenants

This is my first time renting and I’m a little confused about this clause of my rental contract, so I wanna clarify this before signing.

A) And continues on a month-to-month basis until ended in accordance with the Act (this part is crossed out) until either party provides 3 months notice to terminate (this part is added).

We’re using the upper floor of the house (bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living room) & there are extra bedrooms in the basement that the landlords use whenever they visit the city. I thought the rental contract would include the entire top floor unit, but it’s listed that we’re renting the bedrooms only & will be given access to use common shared areas such as the kitchen and living room.

Does this mean we are not covered under the tenancy act?

I’m a little confused about this agreement.. any insight would be appreciated!

Edit: to clarify, downstairs has bedrooms and bathroom, but no kitchen. The landlord told me they could use the kitchen upstairs occasionally when they stay over. I thought this would still mean that we get to rent out the entire upper unit, and just let them use the kitchen sometimes. But the contract says we’re renting upstairs bedrooms only. seeing from the comments, this would mean that we are legally roommates, not tenants. If we are considered roommates, is the 3 month notice then legal?
