Badminton police Assault He was Drunk for sure

Legal Advice Needed

Is this really how police are supposed to make people feel safe?

On the night of [date] around 1:00 AM, me and a few of my friends were just playing badminton in front of a Zudio store in Bangalore. We weren’t on the road or footpath, we weren’t disturbing anyone, and even the store staff had no problem with us being there.

Out of nowhere, a police vehicle came. The officer stepped out and started speaking aggressively in Kannada. We tried to understand, we stayed respectful, and even said sorry if we were doing something wrong.

But instead of calming things down, the situation got worse.

The officer looked like he was drunk. His behavior, his tone—everything felt off. He started demanding our vehicle keys and told us to come to the police station, even though we hadn’t done anything illegal.

Then things crossed a line we never expected.

He slapped two of my friends. Just like that. No warning, no reason, no justification.

We stood there shocked. We weren’t criminals. We were just a group of friends playing a game at night.

Is this what safety looks like?

We always thought police were there to protect us, to make us feel secure. But that night, it felt like the exact opposite. It felt like we had no voice, no protection, no dignity.

We are not denying that police have the authority to question or ask people to leave. But does that give anyone the right to hit someone? To threaten? To misuse power like this?

We didn’t break any law. Yet we were treated like we did something wrong just by existing there.

All we want is accountability. We want to know that this isn’t normal. That this isn’t acceptable. That no one else has to go through something like this again.

Because if the people meant to protect us make us feel unsafe, then where are we supposed to go?
