unbearable tooth pain

experience/story

literally nothing is helping and it’s so annoying. I was dealing with tooth pain for a week before finally seeing my dentist yesterday. I thought it was related to my retainers, cause I went one night without wearing it, but my ortho sent me to my dentist when it didn’t seem like anything was wrong on that end.

I guess the nerve in my very front tooth just died (NO idea how that happens tbh, but no response to the cold test whatsoever and incredibly sensitive to percussion test) and my tooth is just infected, idk. they removed the infected pulp and sent me home with antibiotics and an appt on the 15th for a root canal.

I am in SO much pain. Salt water rinses, ice packs, 1600mg of Ibuprofen and 1000mg of Tylenol taken at the same time out of desperation for relief, a prescription for hydrocodone-acetaminophen 5-325, drinking lukewarm beverages, eating soft lukewarm foods. I’ve stayed home from work twice this week because the pain is so intense. I feel like the pain is in my nose. They took the infection out, I have antibiotics that I’ve been taking accordingly, but I am finding no pain relief whatsoever. Each day feels so incredibly long, I can’t even think of what it was like without this horrible pain. Everything hurts so bad, nothing is working, and all I can do is wait for the antibiotics to kick in to help the infection and hope that takes the pain away. The idea of dealing with this pain for 15 days makes me want to scream and cry, I just don’t want to be in pain anymore
