Amitriptyline and urinary retention

Hi!

So I went on AMI for my provoked vulvodynia on Friday, and yesterday I started to experience bad urinary retention. I was on. A low dose, 10 mg. My doctor recommended try gabapentin, but I really really want to try nortriptyline as I know sometimes it has less side effects.

Has anyone had a similar situation and switched to nortriptyline? Did it help?
