6.5 months old suddenly won’t sleep in crib, only settles next to me

Hi! My LO is 6.5 months old and the past few nights sleep has suddenly become a real struggle.

I put him down awake in his crib and he falls asleep within 5 minutes, but then wakes up after about 30 minutes (sometimes 1 hour) and starts crying and screaming in his sleep, eyes still closed. The only thing that helps is picking him up. But the moment I try to put him back down, whether it’s after 1 minute or 20, he starts crying nonstop again.

Sometimes I can’t even soothe him in my arms.

The only thing that seems to work is putting him next to me in my bed. I’d rather not do this, but for the past few weeks it’s been the only solution. It used to happen only during early morning wake-ups (around 5am), but now I often end up going to bed with him around 10pm because he just keeps crying.

Anyone experienced something similar or have any tips? As far as I know, no teeth yet.
