Same law firm issues second wage garnishment on me for the same debt that was already proven to be wrong person
Same law firm issues second wage garnishment on me for the same debt that was already stopped since it was proven to be wrong person
I posted about this last year. Same situation, same law firm, and the same Discover account tied to someone with my name but a “Senior.” I’m now a year older. Different DOB, previous address where I lived as a minor.
The outcome after a few weeks of back and forth, was that payroll confirmed it was an error. The garnishment was stopped and I was refunded.
Now it’s happening AGAIN.
A second garnishment order just hit my paychecks from the same creditor and law firm. I still live in Michigan, not Louisiana. I was never served anything, never received court notice, nothing. Previously I contacted the county clerk, the credit debtor, the law firm, payroll, it was a headache. I get an email TODAY, money is taken out as I just viewed my paycheck
I contacted payroll, but this is clearly the same mistaken identity issue. The first time they already confirmed the file was for someone else (same name, “Senior,” different DOB). Nothing about that has changed. My payroll specialist contacted the law firm to verify if they have the correct person, and this was about two weeks ago, this was uploaded on myadp.com.
What I don’t understand is how this is happening again with no updated information. I have already viewed the garnishment order on myadp.com and it’s the same papers from 2025. Except that the law firm sent another order to my employer. I was going to contact a lawyer last time this happened but wanted to solve this without any more money being taken out. But it looks like this time I need to contact one.
I’m a college student working 2–3 days a week. I live paycheck to paycheck. I’m already stressed enough and going through it with school and working part- time, second time now for a debt that isn’t mine.
