[26M] & [26F] - 6 years together, never had sex. I’m considering medication to kill my libido to save the relationship.
My girlfriend and I (both 26) have been in a relationship for 6 years. We love each other deeply—she says I am the only reason she is happy and that she can't live without me. However, we have never had full intercourse in our entire relationship.
I’ve reached a point of total emotional burnout. I feel like she doesn’t desire me, even though she insists she does. Lately, I’ve become so depressed by the constant cycle of hope and rejection that I’m thinking of consulting a therapist to get "anti-emotion" or "anti-lust" medication just to stop these cravings.
The Situation:
• Her Perspective: She says she has "desires" but is inhibited by extreme shyness, fear of pregnancy, fear of pain, and recurring health issues like UTIs. She feels her current living environment with family and financial stress (being on PIP) makes it impossible to feel "in the mood".
• The Disconnect: She claims she tries to seduce me subtly (wearing specific clothes), but I never notice. On my end, I feel she treats my body with "disgust" and avoids the topic of sex entirely.
• The "Wait": I have waited for 3 years hoping we would finally do it. Now, my own body is reacting to the rejection—even when she is naked, I don’t get in the mood anymore because I expect it to lead nowhere.
• Future Promises: She wants a "dreamy" proposal and international trips, and she believes things will change once we are married or living together far from family. I’m worried she’s just moving the goalposts.
My Dilemma:
I don’t want to cheat or leave her, but I can’t keep living with this depression. I feel like if I can just "turn off" my sexual needs, I can be the partner she needs without being miserable.
Suggestions please?
