Is CoFina actually worth it at the Seed stage, or is it just a “nice to have”?

I’m asking because I keep seeing people talk about it like it’s some kind of AI CFO, but most Seed-stage companies (including mine) don’t even have a real finance team yet.

For context, we’re still early a small team doing basic bookkeeping, trying to stay alive and not run out of cash. Investor updates are still pretty scrappy

I came across a couple of founders sharing their experience, and the vibe seems mixed but interesting.

One Seed-stage founder (~$20k MRR) said it was worth it not because it added deep finance capability, but because it made simple questions instant — like runway or burn changes going from 20–40 mins to ~30 seconds ()

Another founder (later stage) mentioned it worked well alongside a fractional CFO, but didn’t replace them — more like it removed grunt work so the CFO could focus on actual thinking ()

That kind of lines up with my intuition: It feels high ROI if you’re constantly answering “what’s our runway/burn / why did X change?” It is less obvious if your finances are still simple enough to eyeball in a spreadsheet

What I’m trying to figure out is: Does it actually change how you make decisions, or just make reporting faster? Is it overkill before you even have real financial complexity? Would you rather spend that money on growth instead of Seed?

Curious how other Seed founders think about this — especially those who tried it and either kept it or churned.
