I’ve been applying for a while now and wasn’t getting many responses, so I decided to really dig into what might be wrong with my resume.
After comparing mine with others and getting some feedback, I realized I was making one big mistake:
I was writing responsibilities instead of results.
For example, I originally had:
- “Responsible for managing social media accounts and creating content”
But I’ve started rewriting my bullets like this:
- “Managed social media accounts, increasing engagement by 35% in 3 months through targeted content strategy”
What I changed
I’m now using this format for each bullet:
Action + Task + Result
Even when I don’t have exact numbers, I try to show impact like:
- Improved efficiency
- Reduced turnaround time
- Supported X number of clients
- Collaborated with X team
What I’m noticing so far
It feels stronger, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right yet.
Would really appreciate if someone could:
- Review one or two of my bullet points
- Share what actually made a difference for you
Also happy to share what I’ve learned so far if anyone else is in the same situation.
